When guests arrive at Grand Solmar Land’s End, a resort and timeshare located a 10-minute walk from downtown Cabo San Lucas, hotel staff-members greet each guest with “Welcome home,” a sentiment that is carried throughout each guest’s stay. This “home” just became much sweeter with the addition of two bars and a café.

Nearly five years after opening at the tip of Mexico’s Baja peninsula (hence the “Land’s End” in its name) where the Sea of Cortes meets the Pacific Ocean, Grand Solmar Land’s End has opened a lobby bar, sports bar, and a deli café along with a new, expansive lobby.

The Infinity Bar, once a no-name, simple, open-air affair adjacent to the hotel lobby, has transformed into a more deliberate bar concept. Mexican stone and tile tables punctuate the breezy thatched roof bar that is nestled between beautiful boulders on one side, and soothing infinity ponds with koi fish on the other. The mighty Pacific Ocean, too rough for resort-goers to swim in, ebbs and flows just yards from the bar.

While sipping tropical cocktails by bartender Alejandro Villanueva Medina and sampling vintage wines, guests can watch classic films like Casablanca on the stone walls that flank the breezeway bar. Try Medina’s Metropolitan, a “manly” take on the Cosmopolitan prepared with Ginebra gin, Grand Marnier, lime juice, grenadine, cranberry juice, and a twist of orange.

The resort has also added the Sports Bar, which serves a range of Western bar bites along with a selection of beers and cocktails. The expansive bar, warm wood interior, and outside terrace afford ample space for catching the latest sports matches on jumbo televisions. The requisite margaritas and cervezas form the backbone of the drink menu.

Around the corner is the Deli Café, a casual spot for a quick bite in-house or for grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, and snacks. The completion of the new food and beverage outlets marks a milestone for the resort; there is little sign of damage sustained from category 3 Hurricane Odile that ravaged Cabo San Lucas in 2014.

The new additions complement the palatial property’s signature Baja restaurant La Roca, the more formal Don Luis, and casual, poolside eateries Las Brisas and Las Olas, which serve similar menus of American and Mexican fare like nachos, burritos, and salads.

The 246-room all-suite resort offers guests many culinary perks, from check-in cocktails to turn-down treats. Guests are welcomed with colorful blue and yellow margaritas that mimic the hues of the Pacific Ocean, and sweet treats are delivered en-suite for guests who show their love for Grand Solmar on social media.

The resort, part of Solmar Group, a family-owned boutique hotel group that runs five properties solely in Cabo San Lucas, also offers many food-focused activities, including a winemaking class for adults led by sommelier Elmo Quitero that includes stomping on grapes and enjoying six wines expertly paired with dishes like ceviche, salmon, and chocolate cake; mixology classes at Infinity Bar taught by the bar staff; and children’s cupcake-making and decorating classes in the kitchen of La Roca.
